UnCommonGoods, Jewelry & More!

I’m always happy to find new online retailers that offer great design and also an ethical view on shopping, products and production. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, UnCommonGoods is a retailer that endeavors to feature unique designs and handcrafted gifts created in harmony with the environment and without harm to animals or people.

UnCommonGoods makes it their mission to support and provide a platform for artists and designers and half of what you can buy is made (with love) by hand. Most of the products are created in the USA, and about one-third of the collections incorporates recycled or upcycled materials. At the core of the company is a great respect for the integrity of the creative individual and the belief that it is a responsibility to use business to impact the world in a positive way. UnCommonGoods also features panel series that connects local artists and designers and empowers creative professionals to improve and develop their businesses.

They are a B Corporation where the B means they use the power of business to solve social and environmental problems and meet a rigorous standard on a wide range of issues, including wage levels, environmental impact, and giving back to community. As an independently-owned business they have freedom to support causes they believe in and to impact the world in a positive way. With every purchase made $1 will be donated to a non-profit organisation. Since they started the Better to Give program 12 years ago, they have donated over 1million$ to charities around the world.

From their jewelry range I’m loving and wearing their “Past Present Future” bracelet and “Sky Glimmer Necklace”. You can find more bracelets here and necklaces here. And their meditation box – where you can write on the sand! – makes a perfect, funny and different gift!
