5 Dishes you have to Eat in Milan

FIVE_WITH-the-royal-taster

One of my favourite Italian food blogs is The Royal Taster where Arianna writes funny and competent reviews of the restaurant she goes to. Unfortunately for non-Italian speaking readers her blog is Italian only. BUT I asked Arianna to reveal us five of her favourite dishes (and not only!) that we have to try in Milan. And trust me as I trust her, these are really worth (even the waiting sometimes). So here are her mini and tasty reviews and resaturants and places not-to-be-missed if you come to Milan!

1 | Trippa’s “Vitello Tonnato

“Vitello Tonnato” is a Piedmontese dish of cold, sliced veal covered with a creamy, mayonnaise-like sauce that has been flavored with tuna. Very old school but still very popular in the North of Italy. Sometimes it comes out being just cold meat covered with a mashy fatty sauce (yes, even in Italy we can have bad food!) but not Trippa’s. Their vitello tonnato is a real legend here, a dish that will cause you joy and emotion. You have to try it!

2 | Al Mercato’s Burger

You may find a long queue to enter this tiny restaurant but the wait will be worthy: Al Mercato’s burger is the best one in town. And the tallest for sure.

3 | Giannasi’s Roast Chicken

This is real Milanese Street Food. Giannasi is a little stand that prepares roast chicken since 1967. And if it lasted so long there might be a reason: it’s absolutely special. Make your way through the crowd and order it with roasted potatoes!

4 | “Gelato Giusto” Ice Cream

You will want to try something sweet, don’t you? Maybe gelato? And Italian’s ice cream is the best anyway! But Vittoria’s Gelato Giusto ice cream is even better: light and irrestible. Weird flavors to try: basil, mint and linden blossom flowers cream.

5 | Nottingham Forest’s Cocktails

After all that eating you might be thirtsy so where to go if not to the cocktail’s paradise? At Nottingham Forrest they have a huge list with unique receipts shaked by expert hands. They are alchemists more than bartenders.
