My third time in Tokyo

tokyo-2016-1

My third time in Tokyo in three years. Is it weird? Is it too much? The answer is of course no, for me. Japan is the country that makes me feel more relaxed, curious and at peace with the world. So I  returned for my holidays, again. Almost two weeks in Tokyo. This year we decided (with my boyfriend who by the way is studying Japanese language) to rent a house (with airbnb) and my purpose was to visit some of the many districts of the city that I still had not seen. Trying out two weeks a bit more like a local. No “tourist” places, and not because they are not nice or worth seeing, but because I had already visited them, and to concentrate more on residential neighborhoods, those that are (unfortunately!) not the first suggested by city guides.

And this choice turned out to be a daily surprise. Tokyo is not just skyscrapers and colourful neon lights, kawaii things and crowded intersections, it is also a city of quiet and beautiful neighborhoods, streets and houses as if suspended in time, relaxed people and wonderful little boutiques selling Japanese brands. In the coming weeks I will publish a few posts with my favourite Tokyo areas and also with some of my favourite cafés and restaurants.

It was a holiday that I would like to define as “analog”, I did not take too many pictures – the rainy season did not help either – but also by choice. I wished a trip that rather than posting videos and photos on social media made me open my eyes, observe and impress images in my own memory.
