Bloggers love: Yves Saint Laurent Arty Rings

I asked myself: If I wished a golden ring (usually I wear silver ones) would I end wishing this one too? On the web it seems to be entered almost everyone’s wishlist. Causing endless debates on which colour is the best and depressing everyone because it is always sold out.
So I ask myself (again): where does all this success come from? Why seem people love these rings more than hundreds of other rings? And why the ovals more than others of the YSL collection that are nice too? Good marketing? The choice of a good testimonial (Alexa Chung has been nominated Vogue’s Best Dreesed Woman for 2009)? Bloggers-talking is better than classical advertising? Luck? I don’t know. For sure it helps that the ring is expensive – it is a YSL ring and no one expects it to be cheap – but not too expensive, so that you can just dream of it…
P.S At the moment I’m sure that I don’t need any new golden ring. I feel cheered up.

Se dovessi desiderare un anello dorato (solitamente li indosso d’argento) mi sono chiesta se probabilmente finirei per desiderare anch’io questo. Visto che è nella wishlist di mezzo fashion web. Sfinito dall’amletico dubbio su quale colore scegliere e depresso dal fatto di trovarlo quasi sempre sold out.
Come al solito finisco per chiedermi anche perchè questi anelli piacciano (più) di migliaia di altri che ci sono in giro. E perché proprio quello ovale, visto che la collezione YSL ne comprende anche altri che non mi sembrano meno carini? Marketing efficace? La scelta del giusto testimonial non pubblicitario (Alexa Chung è stata eletta Best Dressed Woman nel 2009 da Vogue)? Il passaparola che ormai batte la pubblicità diretta? Fortuna? Mah! Probabilmente contribuisce anche il fatto che l’anello non abbia un costo sproprositato. Certo non è economico – e visto che è firmato YSL nessuno se lo aspetta – però non al punto di essere inarrivabile e restare un sogno.
P.S. Al momento sento di non aver bisogno di nessun anello nuovo dorato. Mi sento sollevata.

  1. Direi che il colpevole stavolta è il tam tam mediatico online combinato con l'accessibilità economica. E il marchio che, va beh, quello attira sempre. Personalmente, popolari o no, li trovo stupendi. Quello turchese è da sbavo.

    i have been pondering the same thing about the ring as you have. i feel that the hype of the ring is not worth the actual aesthetic value of the ring. it sure is beautifully sculptured and the stone is amazing but come on, everyone knows the real deal: the ring has achieved an "it-status" just like an it-bag, it-girl or so on. i don't feel that i must have the ring but if i did, i would try to exceed the hype and instead look for the next big thing…or even better,make a great find at a flea market or vintage store! this way, it'll be more about the uniqueness and style and less about fashion. period. :)

  9. è sicuramente particolare,secondo me prima dell'estate saremo inondate da fake e repliche…terrò d'occhio lo stand dei gioielli da H&M ;-P questo di YSL quanto costa?
