A wish for 2016 [and Patchwork Coats!]

Happy New Year, welcome 2016! We all are, I am, full of good intentions and I hope to leave old recriminations behind and to start again more rested and serene.

During these holidays I finished Garance Dore’s book (not that it takes a lot, it’s quite short). It’s the second memoir of a blogger that I read after the one by Leandra Medine of The Manrepeller last year. Before starting both I expected to read amazing stories about their careers, outstanding events they attended, a description of how interesting their new lives were as people “that count”. Instead… instead both focus much more on what came before. Family stories, first love, their studies, and Garance’s happy, bohémian and no-money life in Paris (Leandra never had this problem I guess).

So? So my wish for 2016 is to focus more on good laughter with friends, to enjoy the company of people we really value, to travel more and back home to enjoy every travel memory as if it were chocolate. Because these are the things that really make our lives full. Not the party where you said “hello dear” to everyone you don’t even consider “dear”, not a collective but generic and cold approval. And if even those who “made it” (and still keep a bit of brain and common sense) prove us so, we should rather start to believe it. Beginning with myself.

    • Ma è un nì… mi piace la grafica però per i contenuti mi aspettavo qualcosina in più. I suoi articoli online sono più divertenti di quelli sul libro. E ho apprezzato le parti personali ma quelle sullo stile o beauty sono piuttosto banali. Buon Anno Chiara!
